What's Actually Included When You Rent a Car With Us in Melbourne
People ask us the same three questions before they book. Am I covered if something goes wrong. What happens if the car breaks down. How do I actually get the car. Fair questions, and most rental sites bury the answers in a terms page nobody reads. Here they are straight, from a local Melbourne host.
Insurance, in plain English
Every trip booked with District Rentals runs through Turo, so every trip is insured through Turo. We do not arrange our own separate policy on top, and we would never tell you otherwise. At checkout you choose a Turo protection plan, the cost is shown before you confirm, and that is the cover for your whole trip. There is nothing extra to sort out once you land or once you pick up the keys.
That is different to a traditional rental desk, where the advertised price rarely includes real cover and the upsell happens face to face at the counter. With us the choice is made upfront, online, with no one standing over you while you decide.
- Cover is selected and shown at checkout, before you pay for anything.
- It applies for the length of your booked trip.
- It is arranged through Turo, not through us directly, because Turo is the platform every booking runs through.
- For the exact terms of a protection plan, Turo publishes them at checkout. We are happy to talk you through it on the phone first if you want it explained plainly.
24/7 roadside assistance
Every Turo trip includes round the clock roadside support. Flat tyre, flat battery, locked yourself out, it does not matter what time it is. That cover travels with the trip, not with us personally, so it is there whether you booked on a Tuesday afternoon or a Saturday night.
On top of that you get us. Call or WhatsApp 0414 829 388 and you reach the people who actually own the car, not a call centre reading from a script. We are a Turo All-Star Host sitting on 5.0 stars across 370+ reviews and 436+ trips, and answering properly is a big part of why that rating holds.
Pickup and delivery, honestly
Pickup in Deanside, postcode 3336, is free. That is our home base in Melbourne’s west, and most of our regular renters collect the car from us there.
Delivery is available on request across Melbourne, including Melbourne Airport at Tullamarine. We want to be straight about this one. We are not an airport counter with a desk and a queue. Airport pickup has to be arranged with us in advance by phone or WhatsApp, and it is a paid extra on top of the daily rate. We will tell you the honest cost before you book, not after you land.
- Deanside pickup: free, no booking required beyond the usual Turo reservation.
- Delivery elsewhere in Melbourne: available on request, message us your suburb.
- Melbourne Airport: by request only, arranged before your flight, cost confirmed upfront.
What is not included
Fair is fair. Fuel is on you, same as any rental. Tolls are passed through at the actual cost, not marked up. If airport delivery is not something we can fit for your dates, we will tell you before you book rather than after. No surprises either way is the whole point of running it like this.
Why we set it up this way
We rent the cars we would want to rent ourselves. Cover chosen upfront, roadside help that does not depend on office hours, and a straight answer on airport pickup instead of a vague promise. Cars from $40 a day, insured through Turo, with a support team that actually answers.
One thing to remember: the insurance and roadside cover come from Turo and travel with your booking. The straight answers and the fast reply come from us.
