Co-host FAQ
Where do you co-host?
Melbourne, Victoria only. Your car needs to be kept in Melbourne so we can clean it, hand it over to guests and look after it between trips. We can’t co-host cars outside Melbourne.
How much will my car be driven?
A lot, if you want it to earn well. This is a car rental business, so the more your car is booked, the more kilometres it covers. If you want maximum revenue, expect your kilometres to go up.
What do you cover and what do I pay for?
We cover the cleaning between trips. Consumables like windscreen washer fluid are not included, so please keep that topped up yourself. Repairs, damage and servicing costs are yours as the owner.
Do you fix the maintenance?
No, we don’t repair cars ourselves. For any damage or maintenance, we take your car to a workshop and use our own time and resources to do it, with a fixed $50 callout fee each time.
Do I need my own insurance?
Turo provides its own protection on every trip, but we do recommend you also take out your own third-party insurance. Check with your insurer that they are happy for the car to be used for rental.
What about fines and tolls?
We track and sort tolls and fines for you. Fines are posted to the residential address of the registered owner, so please make sure you can access that mail and send us the notice straight away. There is a strict time limit to nominate the driver, set by the authority that issued the fine, and we can only pass a fine on if we receive it in time. Fines under a personal name are usually straightforward. If the car is registered to a company it takes longer, so send it to us as soon as it arrives.
Does my car need a GPS?
Yes, we highly recommend having a GPS fitted. Speak to us about the options we offer.
What happens if my car breaks down?
Don’t worry. Every Turo trip includes 24/7 roadside assistance (jumpstarts, lockouts, fuel, tyre changes and towing).
What happens if my car gets in a crash?
Just like any other crash, it goes through the Turo protection and claims process, and we help you manage it from start to finish.
